$14 million channeled toward meat processing resiliency
The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced this month that they will be providing the meat processing sector with $14 million for agricultural workforce training. This investment in the rural community is part of efforts by the president’s administration to stabilize America’s rural communities and food supply chain by creating more competitiveness and diversity for both meat packers and meat packing facilities.
“Food insecurity and food system interruptions have hit underserved communities hardest during the ongoing pandemic,” said Under Secretary Chavonda Jacobs-Young. “By investing in education and workforce development at these institutions, we are training the workforce of the future to develop long-lasting solutions to these and other critical agricultural issues facing our nation.”
